Police drop charge against man

With the alleged victim unwilling to testify, city police dropped a charge of terroristic threats against Joseph Francis Hazen III.

Hazen, 19, of 924 W. Southern Ave., South Williamsport, was charged after telling his ex-girlfriend, Samantha Reed, on the telephone that he was allegedly going to "put a bullet in her head" on April 29, city police said.

Hazen allegedly made the call at the woman's city home on Parkwood Street.

Man accused of raping woman

Kenneth Jerome Johnson Jr., 36, of 391 St. Davids Road, has been charged by city police with rape, sexual assault and indecent assault for allegedly assaulting a woman who was "highly intoxicated" inside a home in the 600 block of Locust Street during the early morning hours of March 1.

Following his recent arraignment before District Judge Allen P. Page III, Johnson was committed to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $35,000 bail.

Teens accused of burglary, thefts

A Jersey Shore man has been jailed on charges of breaking into a Linden area home, according to state police.

Daniel Marino Morgret, 18, of 210 Staver St., has been charged with forcing his way into Colin Richard Jarrelles' home at 611 Northway Road on the afternoon of April 23 and stealing a $300 DVD player and $500 watch, police alleged in court papers.

A 17-year-old juvenile also was involved in the break-in, police said.

Troopers nabbed Morgret soon after the burglary thanks to help from one of the victim's neighbors, police said. The stolen items have been recovered, police said.

Following his arraignment hours later before District Judge Allen P. Page III on charges of burglary, felony trespassing, theft, receiving stolen property, corrupting the morals of a minor and conspiracy, Morgret was committed to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail.

3 people charged with theft

WELLSBORO - Three recently were charged with theft in Tioga County. They are:

Terry Aldrich, 51, of 2542 Merrick Hill Road, Knoxville, by the Tioga County district attorney's office on April 4 after allegedly cashing a $450 check for tree-trimming services that never were performed. Aldrich awaits a June 18 preliminary hearing before Judge Robert Repard.

Deven Marie Miller, 18, of 1928 E. Wensley St., Philadelphia, by borough police on Jan. 26 at Tops Market in Wellsboro after allegedly leaving the store without paying for items. Miller awaits a June 18 preliminary hearing before Repard.

Erica M. Davis, 28, of 16049 Route 287, Tioga, by Westfield Borough police on April 18 after allegedly taking $170 from a friend's wallet. Davis attended a May 23 preliminary hearing before District Judge Brian Edgcomb.

Woman allegedly brought pot to courthouse

When county parolee Natesa Janese Wade arrived at the county's Adult Probation Office at the county courthouse, it turned out the 25-year-old city woman had some marijuana hidden in a cigarette pack, according to county Detective Kenneth L. Mains.

It was unknown if she arrived at the office on her own or had been taken into custody by authorities at another location.

Wade, of 531 Lycoming St., told her probation officer of the hidden marijuana after she was told that she was going to be jailed on a bench warrant stemming from another matter.

Wade, who since has been released, was charged by Mains with possession of marijuana and has been sent a summons to appear before District Judge Allen P. Page III.

City man jailed after violating PFA, police say

A Scott Street man forced his way into his ex-girlfriend's home through a basement window on April 23 but soon fled after the woman confronted him in their child's bedroom.

Even though the woman, Ashleigh Miller had filed a protection from abuse order against him, that did not stop Michael Anthony Cusumano Jr. from breaking into her home at 1049 Memorial Ave., police said.

Arraigned the next day before District Judge Gary A. Whiteman on a charge of felony trespassing, Cusumano, 27, of 1450 Scott St., waived his preliminary hearing and remains jailed in the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Man accused of having stolen registration

HUGHESVILLE - Joseph Charles Little, 26, of 152 Boak Ave., has been charged with receiving stolen property after it was discovered that the registration on a motorcycle he was operating was stolen, state police.

The discovery came after Little crashed the motorcycle on Route 442 in Moreland Township during a brief pursuit with state police on March 3, 2011, according to court records. No other details of the crash were available.

The license plate on the cycle actually belonged to a scooter owned by Rachael Sossamon, police said. Little has been sent a summons to appear before District Judge Jon E. Kemp.

WELLSBORO - Three individuals recently were charged with harassment, according to documents filed at District Judge Brian Edgcomb and District Judge Robert Repard's offices. They are:

Robert Dante Olivieri, 23, of 2541 Hills Creek Lake Road, was charged with harassment and simple assault by state police after allegedly using his fists to assault Alisha Marie Olivieri in front of their residence. The arresting officer observed fresh cuts on the victim's head. Olivieri also allegedly assaulted John W. Nienhueser by striking him in the face and neck. Olivieri was issued a summons to appear for a May 28 preliminary hearing before Repard.

Marilyn K. Jones, 54, of 1155 Old State Road, Covington, was charged with making terroristic threats and harassment by Lawrenceville municipal police after allegedly threatening to pull a gun following a child custody disagreement. Jones attended a May 2 preliminary hearing before Edgcomb.

David B. Chappell, 31, of 950 Barney Hill Road, Elkland, was charged with harassment and simple assault by state police on April 17 after allegedly striking a victim in the face, arm and breast areas. He had a May 9 preliminary hearing before Edgcomb.

7 charged with DUI

ELKLAND - Seven individuals recently were charged with driving under the influence of intoxicants, according to documents filed at District Judge Brian Edgcomb's office. They are:

Michael E. Rhinehart, 48, of 422 N. Buffalo St., was charged with DUI, careless driving and disorderly conduct by Osceola Township police on March 17 on West Main Street in Elkland. Rhinehart appeared at a May 9 preliminary hearing before Edgcomb.

Murray F. Johnson Jr., 45, of 5729 Route 349, Westfield, was charged with DUI and harassment by borough police following an April 15 traffic stop on 312 Church St. He had a May 9 preliminary hearing before Edgcomb.

Jacob P. Burrel, 23, of Lawrenceville, was charged with DUI, speeding, careless driving, and possession of drug paraphernalia by state police on April 12 following a traffic stop on East Main Street, Wellsboro. Burrell appeared at a May 9 preliminary hearing before Edgcomb.

Brandon James Burch, 20, of 950 Barney Hill Road, was charged with DUI, careless driving, marijuana possession and intent to deliver paraphernalia by borough police on April 17. Burch appeared at a May 13 preliminary hearing before Edgcomb.

Lyle E. Oles, 55, of 2615 Route 417, Greenwood, N.Y., was charged with DUI by state police on April 29 following a traffic stop on Route 287 in Lawrence Township. Oles appeared at a May 2 preliminary hearing before Edgcomb.

David P. Clark Sr., 45, of 58 Monkey Run Road, Middlebury Center, was charged with DUI by state police on April 14 following a traffic stop on River Road in Nelson Township. Clark awaits a May 23 preliminary hearing before Edgcomb.

Robert L. Roth, 46, of 71 Mooney Road, Plymouth, by Wellsboro police on May 5 following a traffic stop on East Avenue. Roth awaits a June 18 preliminary hearing before District Judge Robert Repard.

Man accused of trespassing at tannery

WESTFIELD - Todd D. Bowen, 26, of 225 North St., was charged with criminal trespassing by borough police on April 3 after allegedly taking a can from the tannery.

Man charged with disorderly conduct

WESTFIELD - Travis G. Burdick, 31, of 312 Church St., was charged with disorderly conduct by borough police on April 18 after allegedly getting out of his car on Elm Street to yell profanities at a driver being stopped for a traffic violation.

Burdick appeared at a May 9 preliminary hearing before District Judge Brian Edgcomb.

Police: Man had drug paraphernalia

WELLSBORO - Mark A. Williams, 23, of 1089 Harvard St., was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia following an April 11 traffic stop at the Minit Mart on Riberolle Street for an inoperable headlight.

The borough police officer detected a marijuana smell, according to records. The defendant, on probation, was transported to Tioga County Prison, where he allegedly was found to possess empty heroin baggies, a spoon and syringe.

Williams awaits a June 18 preliminary hearing before District Judge Robert Repard.
