Muncy Creek Township's zoning hearing board heard requests for a number of variances required to put in a Sheetz gas station and car wash in the Shoppes at Muncy Creek development, at the intersection of routes 405 and 442.
"You are asking for a nine-sign variance," said board member Layne Oden. "Can we work with something in between on signage?"
Representatives from Sheetz Inc. indicated that some changes could be made to their signage package.
The zoning hearing board has 30 days to issue a written decision on the sign and height variances.
Site plans for the Sheetz building pad were approved by the township planning commission on Jan. 28.
The 412-foot wide lot for Sheetz will have two access points off of Muncy Creek Boulevard, the private drive that runs from the new traffic light on Route 405 - paid for by developers J.C. Bar - over to Penn Street. Developers plan on installing six pump islands and a car wash there.
The last lot still to be claimed in the 19-acre lot, on Penn Street across from the new CVS Pharmacy, is intended to be a restaurant, according to the developers' drawings.
