William A. Phillips, 92, of 2445 Ritchey St., died on Sunday, May 19, 2013, at home. His wife the former Sara M. Carpenter passed away on April 26, 2005.
He was born on Dec. 21, 1920, in Williamsport and was the son of Alfred W. and Bessie Sones Phillips.
William was a graduate of Williamsport High School. He was a member of Faxon-Kenmar United Methodist Church. William was a mason. He served his country during WWII as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army. William worked for Bethlehem Steele until his retirement.
He is survived by one son, Timothy Phillips of Williamsport; one daughter Billie (Richard) Staib of S. Williamsport; one sister Margie Barkley, Philadelphia; a grandson Christopher Kearns; four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 24, 2013, in Kaufman Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 2102 Northway Road, with Pastor Robert Wallace officiating. Burial will be in Montoursville Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
