James F. Barker, 63, of Jersey Shore, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2013, at the Williamsport Regional Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 29, 1949, in Jersey Shore, the son of Foster and Alice (Marks) Barker.
James was formerly employed by Thompson's Meat Packing Plant and Sylvania.
He was married to the former Elizabeth Ann Edwards, who survives.
James was a member of the American Legion Post No. 36.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, spending time with his grandchildren and watching Penn State.
James was a funny, selfless, caring, loving and giving man.
Surviving besides his wife, Elizabeth are three sons, Bob (Stacy) Barker of Jersey Shore, Dan Barker of South Williamsport, Jason (Shawnee) Barker of Newberry; a daughter, Tammy (Joe) Sheehan of Williamsport; a step-son, Jeff (Jill) Edwards of Newville, Pa.; a step-daughter, Crissie (Dustin) Swartwood of Jersey Shore; 13 grandchildren, one great-grandchild and a sister, Lana Miller of Hawaii.
James was predeceased by a brother, Lester Barker.
Relatives and friends are invited to James Life Celebration service beginning with a visitation Tuesday evening May 28, 2013, from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Rearick-Carpenter Funeral Home, Ltd. "A Life Celebration Home," 1002 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore. Services will be held noon Wednesday at the funeral home. A private burial will follow in Jersey Shore Cemetery.
