A High Street man has been arrested for allegedly knocking a woman to the ground, assaulting her and stealing cash she had been holding in her hand, city police said.
Kadeem Shatim Alford, 20, of 843 High St., grabbed the money from Deborah K. Agnes and put a choke hold around her neck after she landed on the ground at Hepburn and Louisa streets about 7:20 a.m. May 1, police alleged in court papers.
Agnes fought with the attacker and did manage to get back some of the money he allegedly stole from her before he fled, police said. When she was shown a photo array of possible suspects, the woman picked out Alford as the alleged assailant, police said.
Following his recent arraignment before District Judge Allen P. Page III on charges of robbery, simple assault, theft and receiving stolen property, Alford was committed to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $100,000 bail.
