Dining with Diabetes class being offered at Meck Senior Center
Learning that you have diabetes can be overwhelming at first. There are many new things to learn and it can be difficult to know where to start.
Dining with Diabetes is a program offered by Penn State Extension. It will help attendees understand some of the most important things you need to know about how to manage your diabetes.
Educators will lead discussions addressing: Important numbers you need to know, planning healthy meals, healthy food preparation and physical activity.
Classes are offered weekly for four weeks, with a three-month follow-up class. Each class offers food demonstrations and tastings, physical activity, ideas to take home and discussions regarding important information to help you manage your diabetes. Lab tests will be offered to measure A1c.
In addition to class handouts and test results, participants also receive a variety of resources, including a complete collection of Dining with Diabetes recipes. If you have been told that you have Type 2 diabetes, you will want to attend this class.
The first class will be held from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. June 6 at the George C. Meck Senior Center, East Lycoming YMCA, 50 Fitness Road, Muncy.
The class is $40 for an individual or $55 for a family and scholarships are available. Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries receive free registration.

South Williamsport AYSO to hold soccer registration
South Williamsport AYSO Region 578 will hold fall 2013 and spring 2014 soccer registration from 6 to 8 p.m. today and June 4 at Central Elementary School computer lab, 555 W. Mountain Ave.
Register online at www.eayso.org (even if the child has played before).
Print one copy of the registration and bring it with a check to the registration.
Registration fees are U6 $25, U8 and above $40 for first child and $30 for each additional child. After June 11, the child will be placed on a waiting list and will have to wait to see if there is room on any teams.
Uniform cost is $15 (U6) or $35 (U8 and above).
There also will be a fee for each child for a mandatory basket bingo fundraiser.
Child must be 5 years old by July 31 and no exceptions will be made. Players under 6 and first time players must bring a copy of their birth certificate.

Antes Fort to hold community yard sale
ANTES FORT - The village of Antes Fort will hold its annual community yard sale beginning at 7 a.m. Saturday.
Items including clothing, housewares, toys, furniture, collectables and antiques will be available at homes, churches and organizations throughout the village.
In addition, many residents will be selling refreshments including hot dogs, soda, cupcakes and more.
Women's Club to hold brunch
LEWISBURG - All women are invited to Brunch at the Country Cupboard Restaurant, Route 15, at 9 a.m. June 11.
The program will feature "Reunite with the Girl Inside" with Terry Stahley of Camp Ladybug for Women. Musical selections by Rebecca Ward Mitchell.
The guest speaker for the morning will be Christine Koons of Danville presenting "Uh Oh Time for a New Coat".

Quilters Guild announce quilt show
Millford Valley Quilters will hold their 2013 quilt show called "Stitching in the Valley," 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 22 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 23, at Delaware Valley School, Routes 209 and 6, Milford.
There will be a juried show of over 200 quilts, vendors, door prizes, demonstrations, quilt sales, raffles, books and magazines for sale and more.
Soccer summer camp
LWS Soccer Academy will be hosting a summer camp for girls and boys who will be in grades 3 through 8 for the 2013-2014 school year.
The soccer camp will run 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, July 15 through Thursday, July 18.

Wayne Township Fire Co. to hold car cruise
The fifth annual car cruise will be held at noon on Saturday, July 27 at the Wayne Township Volunteer Fire Company in McElhattan in memory of the late Herb Spong.
The fire hall kitchen will be open starting at 10:30 a.m. and will be serving barbeque chicken, pulled pork sandwiches and hot dogs.
