Two sets of charges have been filed against a Loyalsock Township woman who was caught allegedly trying to steal $270 worth of merchandise from Kmart, 1915 E. Third St., on April 15, state police said.
In addition to a misdemeanor shoplifting charge, Chesney Anne Wheeler, 34, of 195 Pine Summit Road, faces charges of theft by deception and receiving stolen property for allegedly selling $169 worth of stolen play equipment to Merry-Go-Round, 1560 E. Third St., on April 4, police said.
The owner of the business was unaware that the equipment was "hot," but within a matter of days, she became suspicious something was not right and notified police.
It turned out the owner's suspicions were correct, as the equipment was stolen from Kmart on an unknown date, police said.
Following her recent arraignment before District Judge Gary A. Whiteman, Wheeler was released on $5,000 bail.
