Kenneth L. Masterson, 88, of Williamsport, died Thursday, May 30, 2013, at the Williamsport Hospital.
Born March 28, 1925, in Tower City, he was a son of the late Howard and Katie Busch Masterson.
Kenneth was a graduate of Porter Township High School and Mansfield University, where he received his degree in music.
Kenneth was a teacher and band director at Roosevelt Middle School for 31 years. He taught private music lessons from home and at Robert M. Sides. Kenneth was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, where he was choir director. He also served as choir director for the Harmonia Club and was a member of the Consistory Band and the Repaz band for more than 40 years.
Kenneth was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of Masonic Lodge 397 and the Williamsport Consistory. He enjoyed gardening and classical music.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Mary Ellen (Haag) Masterson; children, Steven (Patricia), of Harrisburg, twin daughters, Beth Ann (Richard) Luther, of Kansas City, Mo., and Bonnie (Mark) Lorson, of Nisbet; seven grandchildren, Lindsay, Katie, and Erin Masterson, Cody and Andrew Luther, Mark Jr. and Tyler Lorson; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Ruth Underkoffler, Thelma and Eva Masterson; and a brother, Ray Masterson.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond St. with Rev. David B. Letscher officiating. A viewing will be held Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Twin Hills Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
