State Sen. E. Eugene Yaw, R-Loyalsock Township, has authored legislation to end a loophole in the hotel room tax that applies to certain counties, including Lycoming County.
Senate Bill 300 - introduced in the 2011-12 session - would have required companies that book large blocks of hotel rooms to be responsible to pay the 3-percent room tax.
The lawmaker is considering entering similar legislation this session, according to a spokesman.
After 30 days, present law does not require those rooms to be subject to the room tax.
Yaw said the loophole never was intended and that the legislation would enable counties to collect their due share of the hotel tax revenue for tourism marketing and promotion.
