A local woman faces charges after first calling police to report an alleged domestic assault, and then refusing to cooperate with authorities.
Vanessa Corrine Vanorder, 21, of 4738 N. Route 44 in Jersey Shore, has been charged with misdemeanor counts of hindering prosecution and disorderly conduct.
On May 27, Vanorder called state police to report that she and her boyfriend Tyrone Michael Jackson, had been fighting. Vanorder said she had thrown Jackson out but he had refused to leave, according to reports.
Officers met Vanorder on her front porch. In the affidavit, authorities noted that she appeared "visibly distraught."
Vanorder refused to cooperate when pressed for details about the fight. According to police, she refused to identify Jackson and maintained that he already had left the residence.
Authorities asked to speak with Heather Banks, who is the tenant on the lease of the Hazel Drive residence, according to court records. After Banks provided Jackson's identity, police discovered that he had an active bench warrant filed from the Lycoming County Sheriff's office for false reports to law enforcement, records state.
As authorities were speaking with Banks, they could hear Vanorder chatting with someone in the living room. Police then asked Banks if they could search her residence; to which she consented.
Inside, authorities found Jackson hiding behind a couch in the living room with a black jacket thrown over him, according to court records. He was taken into custody and transported to the Lycoming County Prison.
Vanorder was arraigned before District Judge Jerry Lepley on May 27. He has been released on $5,000 bail.
