John H. Johns Jr., 84, of 1007 Weaver St., Montoursville, passed away Monday, June 3, 2013, at his home.
He was born July 17, 1928, in Williamsport, a son of John H. Sr. and Gertrude Hunter Johns.
John served in the PA National Guard and the U.S. Army. He retired from the former Pullman Power Products, where he was an engineer.
John was an avid reader, especially history. He enjoyed football, woodworking, and walking. His dogs held a special place in his heart.
John walked several miles a day, most of it in Montoursville's Indian Park with his beloved Bassett Hounds.
John was predeceased by his parents, and brothers Arthur and Robert.
He is survived by his wife, the former Sarah "Sally" Stewart, with whom he celebrated 61 years of marriage; children, David L. (Deb) Damaska, of Loyalsock, Ann Fegley, of Williamsport, Paul Daniel (Susan) Damaska and Jeff (Denise) Johns, both of Montoursville; a brother, Dave (Flo) Johns, of Ft. Myers, Fla.; eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Mass of Remembrance will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday, June 8, 2013, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 100 Walnut St., Montoursville, with Rev. John K. Manno as celebrant.
Interment will be at the convenience of the family. Friends will be received in the church hall following the service.
