Charles N. Emig, 88, of Williamsport, died Tuesday, June 4, 2013, at his home. He was born July 1, 1924, in Endicott, N.Y., the son of Charles Norman White and Leona (Jenkins) White (later Leona Jenkins Emig) and was later raised with John F. Emig.
He was a Navy Veteran of World War II. He was owner of C.N. Emig Excavating Contractors, which he started in 1960. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, but his work was his main hobby.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Doris C. (Beach) Emig; a son, Bruce A. Emig; siblings, Betty Hornberger and James "Fred" Emig, both of Williamsport, as well as three young siblings.
Surviving are a son, Barry Emig of Williamsport; two daughters, Janet (Joe) Irvin of Cogan Station, Renee (Rick) Benson of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a daughter-in-law, Cindy Emig of Jersey Shore; grandchildren, Brandon Emig, Jennifer Crane, Paul Cowher, Calvin Irvin, and the Bensons, Jeremy, Summer (Hubbard), Jericho, Camy, Kinsley (Arrington), Jesiah, Levi, and Elijah; and nine great-grand- children.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, June 8, 2013, at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond St., Williamsport, followed by a memorial service at 2:30 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be private in Stoltz Cemetery, Cogan Station.
The family will provide the flowers and suggest memorial contributions be made to Susquehanna Hospice, 1100 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701.
