Margaret Cohick (Royer) McDermit, 73, of 2681 Haas Lane (Sycamore Estates), Montoursville, passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2013, at The Gatehouse from pancreatic cancer.
She was born March 27, 1940, in Lock Haven, a daughter of Weldon Sr. and Wilma Davy Cohick.
Marge was a graduate of Jersey Shore High School. She worked in the banking industry for many years in the Lock Haven area until fulfilling her dream of becoming an antique dealer for 31 years.
In earlier years she was very active in volunteering and fund raising for charities. In 1971, she co-chaired a 15 mile walkathon from Pine Creek to Mill Hall for the American Cancer Society. After the walk she was met at the Lock Haven Monument by the mayor of Lock Haven and presented a key to the city. Marge served on the board of directors for the American Cancer Society from 1972 to 1973.
In 1972, she also was the residential chairman for the Clinton County United Way. She served on the board for the Clinton County Historical Society, was a member of the Lock Haven Hospital Auxiliary serving on volunteer services and was a volunteer of the Lock Haven Susqui Centennial Celebration.
She is survived by her husband, Ron McDermit; two children, Glenn Stephens and Leslie (Anthony) Royer Stevenson; two grandchildren, Marissa and Anthony Stevenson; a sister, Maxine Davidson of Woolrich; two brothers, Richard (Fledabelle) Cohick and Weldon Cohick Jr. both of Linden and many nieces and nephews. Marge is also survived by her beloved Shitzu dog, Imus.
Marge was preceded in death by a sister, June Hill and a brother, Maynard Cohick.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, June 30, 2013, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Jersey Shore Elks, 203 N. Main St., Jersey Shore.
