America's most-beloved family musical, "Annie," will be hitting the CTL stage on June 14 and tickets are flying out the door faster than you can say "Leapin' Lizards!"
With equal measures of pluck and positivity, little orphan Annie charms everyone's hearts, despite a next-to-nothing start in 1930s New York City. She is determined to find her parents, who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of a New York City Orphanage run by the cruel, embittered Miss Hannigan.
With the help of the other girls in the Orphanage, Annie escapes to the wondrous and magical world of NYC. In adventure after fun-filled adventure, Annie foils Miss Hannigan's evil machinations and befriends President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. She finds a new home and family in billionaire Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary Grace Farrell, and a lovable mutt named Sandy.
Father and daughter team of Trevor and Ava Loehr plays Billionaire Oliver Warbucks and the precocious Annie and Director Jacquie Engel could not be more pleased with the onstage chemistry created by the duo.
"It's been great to watch these two become their characters. The fact that they are father and daughter brings a little extra magic to the show," she says. "The will be plenty of "awwww" moments for the audience, that's for certain."
The show has two sets of 10 orphans each bringing the nightly cast size to more than 30 people, and one dog. Because of the number of children in the show, tickets are going quickly.
Tickets for Annie are $15 for adults and $8 for students and are available at ctlshows. com or by calling 327-1777, weekdays 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Showdates and times are at 7:30 p.m. June 14, 15, 20 to 22 and 27 to 29.
