Muriel A. Hilkert, 88, of the Williamsport Home, died on Sunday, June 2, 2013, at the Gatehouse Hospice.
Muriel was born on March 2, 1925, in the South Wales region of the United Kingdom. She was the daughter of the late Percy George and Violet Kathleen (Baxter) Freeman.
Muriel was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in South Williamsport, Pa. She worked as a bookeeper for Hildebrant Communications. Muriel was a former member of the Williamsport Country Club, and she enjoyed traveling, theater, and reading, and her friends at the Williamsport Home.
She and her late husband, George H. Hilkert, were married on Nov. 25, 1944. Together they shared 60 years of marriage.
Muriel is survived by her two sons, Gary J. Hilkert, of Wilmington, Del.; and Rodney G. (Ann) Hilkert, of Haymarket, Va.; three grandsons, John Hilkert, Justin Hilkert, and Brandon John Hilkert; and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister Sandra Kathleen Cain, of Lewisberry, Pa.
Muriel was preceded in death by her late parents and her husband, George H. Hilkert.
Friends and family will be received at the Charles M. Noll Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 12, 2013, from 1 p.m. until the time of the memorial service.
Memorial services will be held at 1:30 pm Wednesday, June 12, 2013, at the funeral home with Rev. Susan P. Lynch officiating.
Inurnment will follow in the Church Hill Cemetery, Kelly Township, Union County.
