The National Weather Service in State College has issued a flood watch for the county starting this afternoon and lasting until 8 p.m. Thursday.
The area will experience steady rainfall from late tonight through all day Thursday. The low-pressure system is expected to bring the area 1 to 2 inches of rain, which Accuweather reported is the equivalent of two to three weeks worth of rain for this time of year.
Flooding could occur in low-lying areas, especially those with poor drainage and near creeks and streams.
The system is not expected to bring damaging winds to the area, unlike the Midwest and states south of Pennsylvania as they could experience a Derecho - a term describing fast-moving storms with damaging winds.
