Thomas E. Coates, 72, of 400 Wolfe Blvd., Watsontown, passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2013, at his home.
He was born Sept. 10, 1940, in Elkland, a son of the late Fredrick and Lorena (Short) Coates. On Aug. 6, 1960, he married Emelie Schultz, who survives. Together they celebrated 52 years of marriage.
Tom retired after 32 years at the former Chef Boyardee, now ConAgra, Milton, where he worked in the Maintenance department.
He was a member of the Church of the Resurrection, Muncy.
Tom loved working in his garden, hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed making maple syrup and was an avid woodworker.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are four children and their spouses, Joe and Tina Coates, of Danville, Deb and Denny Jr. Lucas, of Lewisburg, Sue and Jeffrey Auker, of Phoenix, Ariz., and Thomas and Bethany Coates, of Muncy; one brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Rose Ann Coates, of Rochester, N.Y.; one sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and Ray Low, of Greensboro, N.C. and three grandchildren, Ryan Hoy, Joshua Auker and Nicholas Herbst.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one sister, Mary Coates.
Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
The family suggests memorial contributions in Tom's name be made to the American Cancer Society, 1948 E. Third St., Williamsport, PA 17701.
