Betty J. Durrwachter, 89, of Williamsport, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at Sycamore Manor Health Center.
Born Sept. 7, 1923, in Sunbury, she was a daughter to the late Richard and Helen (Hill) Bateman.
Betty enjoyed reading and puzzles. She loved spending time with her family, going on trips and cooking meals. She was a member of Balls Mills United Methodist Church.

Surviving are her loving husband of 68 years, Melvin Crouse Durrwachter, Sr.; two children, Melvin C. Jr. (Marion) Durrwachter of Matamoras, Pa. and Sharon (David) Barbour of Montoursville; four grandchildren, Michael (Merrilee) Durrwachter, Melissa (Joseph) Stilo, Allyson (Chris) Tymeson and Justin (Betty) Shaffer; and nine great-grandchildren, Katrina and Kyle Durrwachter, Alexandra, Samantha and Briana Stilo, Drewan and Janae Tymeson, Isaac and Audrey Shaffer.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two sisters, Jean Williams and Mary Louise Bateman.
A memorial service will be held 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at Balls Mills United Methodist Church, 5941 Bloomingrove Rd., Cogan Station, with The Rev. Jay A. Morris officiating. A visitation will be held 3:30 p.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will be at a later date at Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy.
