Dorothy M. Brown, 94, formerly of 969 Second St., Williamsport, died Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at Sycamore Manor Health Center following an extended illness.
Dorothy was a former employee of the Williamsport Home and Sycamore Manor. She was a member of the West Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.
She loved to shop especially for shoes and pocketbooks. She also loved traveling with her sister-in-law, Esther Gibson. Her favorite expression was "I'm going to go when I can."
She was born Jan. 14, 1919, in Williamsport. She is survived by sons, James (Peggy) Brown Jr., of West Virginia, Robert (Helen) Brown Sr. and Larry (Beverly) Brown both of Williamsport; a daughter, Dorothy (James) (Brown) Morris of Williamsport; brother, Earl Gibson of Pottstown; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, James Brown Sr.; sons, David Brown and Gary Brown Sr. and a great-grandson, James Brown.
A visitation for family and friends will be held Saturday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Knight-Confer's, 1914 Memorial Ave. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Montoursville Cemetery with Dennis Foote officiating.
