The Lycoming County Visitors Bureau has taken its share of hits lately, not warranted in our view.
But no matter the viewpoint, the bureau is undeniably a conduit that gets tourism money into the right places.
In addition to its yearly tourism grant program, the bureau announced last week three more grants totaling $237, 500 $100,000 each to Bowman Field and the Rowley House Museum and $37,500 to the Hiawatha paddlewheeler.
The Bowman Field money will create new seating behind the third base dugout and the Hiawatha money will be used to purchase new engines.
There is only one Bowman Field and only one Hiawatha. A new slate roof at the Rowley House Museum is a little more debatable tourism expenditure.
But the overall positive impact of the visitors bureau is not debatable.
