Edith Sylvia (Heaton) DeGarmo, 82, of Williamsport, died June 26, 2013, at her residence. She was born Oct. 13, 1930, in Lock Haven, to John Henry and Pearl (Hallett) Heaton.
She is survived by her husband Scott, to whom she was married on Dec. 20, 1947; her sons, Harold (Kong) DeGarmo of Killeen, Texas, Dave (Tammy) DeGarmo, Melvin (Bonnie) DeGarmo, Walter (Chris) DeGarmo, and Timothy DeGarmo all of Williamsport, and Donnie (Mariam) DeGarmo of Howard; daughters, Barbara Miller and Marjorie Watkins, both of Williamsport; 11 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren, and eight step-great-grandchildren; a brother, Raymond Heaton of Avis, and a sister, Ruth Myers of Mill Hall.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Rebecca Watkins and Carol DeGarmo; a son, Steven DeGarmo; two grandchildren; two brothers, Melvin and John Heaton, and a sister, Grace Smith.
Edith was a member of the Salvation Army Church of Williamsport. She had worked in various jobs, Sylvania, Brodart, and Janets Restaurant in Lock Haven. She baked cakes for many years for birthdays, weddings, showers, etc. She also loved to read, especially her Bible, and crocheting. Edith was a Friendly Home Parties Consultant for over 25 years until the company closed.
She will be remembered for many things, but especially her sweet nature, love for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, but especially her love for God.
Visitation will be held 5 to 6 p.m. Friday, June 28, (tonight) at the Salvation Army Church, 457 Market St. Williamsport, followed by a funeral service at 6 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Edith's name may be made to the Salvation Army Church.
