Mary Ellen Masterson, 85, of Williamsport, died Thursday, June 27, 2013, at the Gatehouse at Divine Providence Hospital.
Born May 2, 1928, in Williamsport, she was a daughter of the late Harrison S. and Maude L. Kinley Haag.
Mary Ellen married Kenneth L. Masterson on October 17, 1953. He preceded her in death on May 30, 2013.
Mary Ellen was a 1946 graduate of Williamsport High School.
Mary Ellen was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church. She played the organ at her church as well as other churches in the area. Mary Ellen was a member of the Gesang Verein Damenchor. She was an avid reader. She also bowled at Harvest Moon Lanes and was a member of St. John's EUB Senior Citizens.
Mary Ellen loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by her children, Steven (Patricia), of Harrisburg; twin daughters, Beth Ann (Richard) Luther, of Kansas City, Mo., and Bonnie (Mark) Lorson, of Nisbet; seven grandchildren, Lindsay, Katie and Erin Masterson, Cody (Ashley) and Andrew (Jessica) Luther, Mark Jr. (Jenna) and Tyler Lorson; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, C. Jane Haag Springman and P. Christine Haag Smith Saxton.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday evening at 7 p.m. at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond St., with Rev. Kenneth R. Elkin officiating. A viewing will be held Sunday evening from 5:30 p.m. until the time of service.
