Samuel L. "Sam" Sims Sr., 83, husband of Madalyn (Beck) Sims, of 501 Prospect Ave., Lock Haven, went to be with His Lord on Friday, July 5, 2013.
Born in Forrest Dale, Miss. on April 4, 1930, he was the son of the late William M. and Enola (Gordy) Sims.
A devoted husband, Madalyn and Sam were wed on June 23, 1952 and shared over 61 years of marriage together.
Sam was a Korean War veteran and served with the U.S. Army and proudly with the U.S. Marine Corps.
He was an insurance salesman with the Baltimore Life Insurance Company, and later with his own company, totalling over 25 years of service.
Sam was an active member of the Faith Baptist Church, Blanchard.
He was a devoted father to two daughters, Sharon Murray (Patrick), of Beech Creek, and Lisa Haywood (Dave), of Loganton; and three sons, Samuel L. Sims Jr. (Carol), of Nescopeck, Steven L. (Carol), of Elimsport, and Scott L. (Bobbie), of Lock Haven; and six grandchildren.
Along with his parents, he was predeceased by six siblings and a grandson, Joshua David Haywood.
A passionate man, Sam loved his Lord, his family and his country.
The funeral service will be held on Monday, July 8, 2013, at 11 a.m. in the Faith Baptist Church, 143 Liberty St., Blanchard, with Rev. Troy D. Kerstetter officiating. A public visitation will be held in the church one hour prior to the service. Final interment will be held in Fairview Cemetery, Loganton. Full military honors will be accorded by the Korean War Veterans of Lycoming County. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Sam's name to the Faith Baptist Church c/o Missions Fund, PO Box 363, Blanchard, PA 16826.
