Carl Duane Hiller Sr., 77, of Montoursville, passed away Friday, July 5, 2013, at the Williamsport Regional Medical Center. He was born Jan. 5, 1936, in Williamsport, a son of Carl A. and Elizabeth Parker Hiller.
Duane was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Montoursville, and was a graduate of both Lycoming College and the Pennsylvania State University. He retired as an engineer in the Wire Rope Division of the former Bethlehem Steel, and was a former Loyalsock Township Supervisor. He was a mason; was a member of Trout Unlimited, enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and wood working.
Duane is survived by his wife, the former Ursula G. Gutzeit, with whom he would have celebrated their 27th wedding anniversary with on July 12; three sons, Carl D. (Krista) Hiller Jr. of South Williamsport, Bryan (Jennifer) Hiller of Greensboro, N.C., and Craig A. (Denise) Hiller of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; daughter, Lorie A. (Marc) Barth of Williamsport; three step-children, Carol V. (Rhett) Smith of Linden, James E. Becks of Linden, and Sandra L. Becks of Muncy; brothers, Robert (Mary Jo) Hiller of Montoursville, and James (Marge) Hiller of Trout Run; a sister, Cindy (Dave) Kling of Loyalsock Township; fifteen grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Friends and family are invited to a viewing from 9:30 to 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at the Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad St., Montoursville. Following the viewing, a memorial service will be held 11:30 a.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church, 369 Broad St., Montoursville, with the Rev. David B. Letscher officiating. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
