Route 6 resurfacing to begin this week
MANSFIELD - A resurfacing project along about three miles of Route 6 near Richmond Township and Mansfield in Tioga County is scheduled to begin Tuesday.
Work will include base and joint repairs, paved shoulders, two layers of new blacktop, pavement markings and drainage improvements. Work will take place just east of the intersection of Schodac Road to just east of the Route 15 interchange in Mansfield.
Traffic will be restricted to a single lane through the work zone. Flaggers and daylight signing will control traffic flow.
A width restriction of 9 feet for vehicles will be in effect during mainline paving operations only.
Work is scheduled for completion by mid-September.
Route 220 project moves into next phase
JERSEY SHORE - The contractor working on the Route 220 resurfacing project near Jersey Shore has headed into the next phase.
The next phase of the project involves removing and replacing the concrete approaches to the bridges over the railroad tracks between the Thomas and Main street exits.
A long-term lane closure with concrete barriers will be used in both directions. It is expected to take three weeks to complete this phase.
The project is expected to be completed by October.
Route 15 northbound lanes to be resurfaced
MANSFIELD - A resurfacing project along eight miles of Route 15 northbound in Mansfield Borough and Richmond and Tioga townships in Tioga County is scheduled to begin July 15.
Roadway work will include new blacktop, pavement markings, guiderail and bridge preservation with epoxy-based surface treatment for bridge decks
Work will take place from the Route 6 Interchange to about two miles south of the Route 287 Interchange. Traffic will be restricted to a single lane through the work zone. Long-term signing will control traffic flow.
All work is expected to be completed by mid-October.
Railroad crossing on Route 54 will see work
MOUNT CARMEL - A railroad crosssing along Route 54 in Mount Carmel township in Northumberland County that is set to begin Monday will impact traffic.
A detour will be in effect during the project using Route 901 and 61.
The contractor will remove the existing rail sela and asphalt at-grade corssing and relpace it with a new concrete surface. Work is expected to be complete by July 19.
Highway in Bradford County to get upgrades
STEVENSVILLE - A highway upgrade project will continue work this week on a section of Route 1012 in Bradford County.
A 2.1-mile stretch of Route 1012 in Herrick Township will be upgraded from Route 1017 to Field Road. Slight delays are possible for drivers.
Work is expected to be completed by Aug. 16.
Southwestern Energy has an excess maintenance agreement with the state Department of Transportation on this road that holds the company responsible for repairing any excess roadway damage as a result of its trucking operations. The company determined it would be more cost-effective to upgrade the road rather than continue to make repairs.
