George "Bob" R. Day, 79, of Loyalsock Township, died Monday, July 15, 2013, at the Gatehouse.
George was born in Williamsport on June 12, 1934, a son of George W. and Elsie C. (Bastian) Day.
He was a graduate of Williamsport High School and the former Williamsport Technical Institute and had retired from Tampella-Keeler.
George was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, the Young Men's Republican Club, and was an avid card player and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from September of 1953 until July of 1955, and was honorably discharged.
He and his wife, the former Ann L. Bernardi, celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary on Sept. 1, 2012. Surviving in addition to his wife are four children, George Day Jr. of Williamsport, Rick (Patty) Day of Cogan Station, Cindy (John) Cimabue of Westminster, Md., Sandy Day (Bill Bussler) of Montoursville; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; his beloved dog, Buffy and sisters, Ann Young and Claris Engel.
A memorial service will be held Friday, July 19, at 10:15 a.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church on the corner of Washington Boulevard and Sherman Street in Williamsport with interim pastor, Rev. Dr. Ronald E. Shellhamer officiating. Visitation will be held immediately preceding the service from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Burial at Wildwood Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial contributions may be made to Susquehanna Foundation for the benefit of The Gatehouse, 1001 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701.
