Doris L. Shaw, 78, of Jersey Shore, passed away on, Monday, July 22, 2013, at Jersey Shore Manor Care Nursing and Rehabilitation facility.
Born Nov. 30, 1934, in Lock Haven, she was the daughter of the late Alton P. and Clara Ramser Leitch.
She is survived by her husband, George, with whom she celebrated 56 years of marriage on June 29th of this year; three daughters, Amy (Ed) Shaw-Van Scoyac of Springfield, Va., Becky (Brett) Feigles of Jersey Shore, and Ellen Shaw of Jersey Shore; two granddaughters, Erikia (Luke) Staggert of Jersey Shore, Jordan (CJ) Bower of Jersey Shore, four great-grandchildren, Malachi (Ki), Andrew (Drew), Karley Staggert, and Aiden Bower; sisters, Betty Chubb of Lock Haven, Jean (Jim) Moodler of Jersey Shore, Patricia (Frank) Miller of Avis; brothers, Ken Leitch of McElhattan, William (Karen) Leitch of Beech Creek, and Gary (Cindy) Leitch of Mill Hall; as well as many friends, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother Alton Jr. (Bunk).
She was a member of the Lock Haven High School, class of 1952 and a graduate of Lock Haven State Teachers College in 1958. Doris enjoyed a fulfilling career as an elementary school teacher in the Keystone Central School District for 30 and a half years, retiring in June 1993.
She was a past member of the Tiadaghton Court 136, Order of the Amaranth in Jersey Shore and Pennsylvania Order of Eastern Star No. 28, Jersey Shore.
Friends and family may visit from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, July 26, 2013, at the Lock Haven First Church of Christ, 330 N. Vesper St., Lock Haven. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. with Pastor Steve Salmon officiating. Interment will be at Rest Haven Memorial Park.
The family will provide flowers, and request donation be made to the First Church of Christ, Lock Haven.
