Richard L. Baker, 77, of Montoursville, died Sunday, July 21, 2013, at Williamsport Regional Medical Center.
Born July 11, 1936, in Orbisonia, he was a son of the late Raymond W. and Edna G. Baker. He and his wife, the former Genevive A. Hall, celebrated 29 years of marriage on June 29, 2013.
Richard was a member of the Greenview Alliance Church, where he was active in various church ministries and previously sang in the church choir. He was employed at the former Prismo Universal, Inc., Montgomery, as a project engineer. Richard was an avid sports fan who loved watching Penn State Football, the Steelers and the Phillies. He also enjoyed spending time at the family's river lot, building remote control boats and planes, traveling, boating, fishing and above all, spending time with his family.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, John R. (Lisa) Baker of Montoursville; two step-sons, Daniel S. Plankenhorn of Hughesville and Nathan T. (Jessica) Plankenhorn of Williamsport; a brother, Thomas (Betty) Baker of Milton, Fla.; four grandchildren, Jessica R. Baker of Bethlehem, Eric (Michelle) Baker of Charleston, S.C., Kayla Baker of Largo, Fla. and Adam Baker of Largo, Fla.; a great-granddaughter, Rachel Baier of Bethlehem; a daughter-in-law, Rita Baker of Largo, Fla. and his favorite dog, Precious.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by a son, Michael R. Baker.
A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, July 27, at Greenview Alliance Church, 1955 Warrensville Road, Montoursville, with Rev. Andy Beare officiating. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 26, at the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville.
