Charles Irdell Flad, of 1520 Dauber Road in Cogan Station, has been charged with felony theft and receiving stolen property after allegedly stealing a gun from his grandmother's boyfriend.
The victim was not identified in court records, but shares an address with Flad. According to police, the man contacted them on Dec. 18, after noticing that his High Standard 9 shot, .22 cal. revolver was missing from it's case, which was hidden in his bedroom, records state. He told officers that someone must have stolen the gun between Dec. 4 and Dec. 12, and that he suspected his girlfriend's grandson, Flad.
He told authorities that "there could be no one else," as Flad was the only other person who was inside the residence during that time period, according to the affidavit.
Police noted in court records that Flad had lived at the residence but was "kicked out" about a week before the gun went missing.
Previously, Flad had allegedly stolen another gun from his grandmother, records state.
Flad was arraigned before District Judge James H. Sortman on Wednesday and is currently incarcerated in lieu of $15,000 bail.
