Hoyt H. Norton, 77, of Muncy, died Tuesday July 30, 2013, at the Muncy Valley Hospital, Skilled Nursing Unit. He was born Oct. 15, 1935, in Jasper, N.Y., a son of the late Chet and Kathryn (Madison) Norton.
Hoyt had attended Harrison Valley High School, served in the U.S. Army and was an independent truck driver most of his life retiring in 1997. He loved bingo and building bird houses.
He is survived by children, Robert E. (Bonnie) Norton, Ulysses and Terry Moon, Wellsboro, Kenneth J. (Shelley) Hess, Chambersburg and Carol A. (Dale) Walters, Hughesville; numerous grandchildren; siblings, Robert Norton and Lila Johnson, both of Whitesville, N.Y. and a step-son-in-law, Michael LeClair, Muncy.
He was preceded by a step-daughter, Linda LeClair and a sister, Lena Madison.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:30 p.m., Friday in The Church of the Resurrection, 75 Musser Lane, Muncy with Rev. Glenn McCreary officiating. The interment will be in the Muncy Cemetery where graveside military services will be accorded by combined veterans organizations. The family will receive friends in the church, Friday from 1:30 p.m. till the time of service. Arrangements are by the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, Hughesville.
