Our country is in a real mess. Why do I think this? Well, let's start from the top. Nobody, I mean nobody, respects the United States. President Bush was made fun of because of his "cowboy" image, yet, while other countries, and politicians, may not have liked that image, they knew not to mess with the U.S. But, don't worry; our military is being downsized as I write. It's too expensive to protect the country, anyway. Don't forget, the number one charge to the federal government is to protect the country from enemies inside and outside. But now, all we do is apologize for being a bully. Tell that to the Europeans after WWII.
Also, our country is $17 trillion in debt and spending more and more. The "country" is not only "in the ditch", it's falling off a $17 trillion cliff. Since 9-11 we've had nothing but 2 wars, TARP, Stimulus, ObamaCare, and constant scandal and cover-up.
We have a gov't who is above the law and now holds the populace under surveillance. The Constitution, which has carried us for over 200 years, has been made irrelevant by our own politicians who swore an Oath to protect it; and some people don't even care. Could these be the same people who feel they are owed something, or are here illegally?
Yes folks, this the only country on the planet that rewards breaking its immigration laws by giving food stamps, section 8 housing, free healthcare, and an EBT card for cash. Why? Future voters? Yes, you don't even have to be a citizen to vote in America. It makes me want to cry! And speaking of voting, I challenge anyone to tell me the difference between a Republican and Democrat anymore. It's not about America, it's about the party and how to stay in power.
Being an Anglo/American, I've had to give up my First Amendment free speech rights because some believe I'm privileged and if I "offend" anyone I can be charged with a hate crime. There are just too many "thin skinned" people who are just waiting to be "offended" and make someone else life miserable. It's a sad commentary for the freest country on the planet.
