As I began to read Mr. Rudinski's response to Dr. Cipolla's stance on flouride, I smiled thinking it was satire until I realized he was serious. He cites all these organizations lauding fluoride. However, he cited no recent research or facts.
He cites Canada, Australia, and the US dental associations but leaves out the fact that 97% of European Countries do not add fluoride to their water. The reason cited is it's considered "compulsory medicating." They remember that Hitler used massive amounts to keep the POW'S docile. Did you know that Prozac (fluoxetine) paxil (paroxetine) are both fluorinated drugs?
Our own FDA in 2011 lowered the recommended amount of fluoride in public drinking water. The recent studies are showing cognitive deficits in children under the age of 4, as it crosses the blood brain barrier that is not fully developed. Beginners toothpaste no longer has fluoride added and isn't recommended for children under the age of 7. 40% of U.S. teens are being diagnosed by their dentist with a condition called "dental fluoridosis" causing mottled enamel, fracturing and pitting, directly linked to ingesting fluoride. Their teeth are rotting from the inside out. I'm citing a 2010 study from our own ADA! I could go on and cite studies of the effects on the endocrine system specifically the thyroid but do your own research.
My goodness, Mr. Rudinski, if all these official agencies say ingesting fluoride is safe and good for you, it must be true. I believe Dr. Cipolla and thousands of his colleagues who are coming forward know of what they speak. A wise old doctor once told me, when my son was an infant, decades ago that, "Ingesting fluoride to prevent tooth decay is like ingesting sunblock to prevent a sunburn."
