Robert E. Kane, 90, of Williamsport, Pa., passed away Saturday evening Aug. 3, 2013, at the Gatehouse in Divine Providence Hospital.
Robert was born in Williamsport on Feb. 18, 1923. He was a son of the late Michael A. and Theresa (Dollinger) Kane. Robert and his high school sweetheart Marion L. Maule married Sept. 30, 1944, and celebrated over 68 years of marriage.
Robert was a member of St. Joseph the Worker parish and organist at Church of the Annunciation for 52 years.
Robert graduated from Williamsport High School, class of 1941, and attended Lycoming College. He was a self-employed interior designer and decorator for over 50 years. He was a member and past president of the Organ Guild, a member and volunteer at the Lycoming County Historical Museum and a docent at the Rowley House Museum.
Robert is survived by his wife, Marion L. Kane, and six children, Robert E. (Patricia) Kane Jr., CoraLynn (James) Jordan, and Kathleen R. Kane all of Williamsport, Rebecca A. (Michael) Earnest of Palm Bay, Fla., Sara L. (George) Stempel of Towanda, and Jamie (Daniel) Cunnard of Orlando, Fla. He also is survived by eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; 24 step-great-grandchildren, and 10 step-great-great-grandchildren. He also is survived by his brother-in-law, William L. (Elizabeth H.) Maule Sr. and many nieces and nephews.
Robert was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Strailey and brothers, William and Hugh Kane, and his late parents.
Friends will be received Wednesday evening, Aug. 7, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Crouse Funeral Home, 133 E. Third St., Williamsport, Pa.
Funeral services for Robert E. Kane will be held at Church of the Annunciation, 702 W. Fourth St., Williamsport, at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013, with Rev. Brian Van Fossen officiating.
Interment will follow in the Wildwood Cemetery, Williamsport.
