Raymond Allen Mertz, 73 of South Williamsport, Pa., passed away Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013, at his home with his family after a long battle with cancer.
Raymond was born on Aug. 18, 1939, at Williamsport. He was the son of the late Allen R. and Augusta (West) Mertz.
Raymond served in the United States Navy.
He married the former Sandra Leiphart on Nov. 1, 1958. Together they shared 54 wonderful years of marriage.
Raymond retired from Coca-Cola in 2004 after 45 years. He was a member of and attended St. Lawrence Catholic Church.
Raymond loved to cook, go on cruises, and spend time with his family and two dogs, Jen Jen, and Maple.
Surviving are his wife, Sandra Mertz; three sisters, Joyce Koch, Montoursville, Ann (Robert) Schrimp, of South Williamsport, and Cheryl (William) Pfirman, of DuBoistown and one brother, Terry (Barbara) Mertz, of Williamsport. He is also survived by two sister-in-laws, Ann (Bob) Ocker, of Williamsport and Mary Wettlawfer, Williamsport. Raymond is also survived by three sons and two daughters, Raymond Mertz Jr., of South Williamsport; Thomas Mertz, of Williamsport, Allen Mertz, of South Williamsport; Linda (Tim) Bauman, of Lock Haven and Ann Mertz, of Williamsport. Also surviving are three grandsons and four grandaughters, Christopher (Sara) Weaver, of Linden, Corey Bauman, of Lock Haven, Dakota Mertz, of Williamsport, Sandra (Jamon) Andrus, of Lock Haven, Tehani Weaver, of Linden, Mandi Bauman, of Lock Haven and Melissa Mertz, of Williamsport; and nine great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, as well as a special family friend, Lisa Haag.
Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation for Raymond Allen Mertz on Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Charles M. Noll Funeral Home, South Williamsport, Pa.
Funeral services and the Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 800 W. Central Ave., South Williamsport, on Aug. 9, 2013, at 9:30 a.m. with Msngr. Steven D. McGough officiating.
Interment will follow in the Resurrection Cemetery, Montoursville, Pa.
