F.C. "Frank" O'Dea Jr., 84, of Williamsport, died Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013, at Valley View Nursing Center, Montoursville.
Born Aug. 14, 1928, in Williamsport, he was a son of the late Francis C. and Julia (Flynn) O'Dea.
Frank graduated from St. Joseph's High School, class of 1946 and Thompson Business School. He worked in the general insurance business for many years, attaining the professional designation of C.P.C.U and ARM. Upon his retirement in 1998, he was a vice-president of Sedgwick James Insurance Company.
Frank was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II. He was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church. Frank was a former member of the Williamsport Lycoming Chamber of Commerce and served on the Executive Committee. He was a former member of the Lycoming County Association of Independent Insurance Agents and the Pennsylvania Chapter of C.P.C.U.
Frank loved to sail and spent many hours with family and friends sailing his boat on Chesapeake Bay.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, the former Phyllis Skelly; two sons, John P. O'Dea of Harrisburg and David S. (Stefani) O'Dea of Bel Air, Md.; and two grandchildren, Sean and Selena O'Dea.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary E. Kirby and a brother, Edward F. O'Dea.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Ann's Catholic Church, 1220 Northway Road, Williamsport. Burial will be held at Wildwood Cemetery. A viewing will be held 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at Knight-Confer Funeral Home, 1914 Memorial Ave., Williamsport.
