City Council President Bill Hall made a decision to cancel tonight's council meeting.
He said there was nothing to act on, with exception of a certificate-of-appropriateness request.
He said it made little sense to have an invocation and flag salute and adjourn the meeting.
Another reason for postponing the meeting: "Most of the administration is on vacation," he said.
Hall said it was not that unusual to cancel a council meeting during this month.
Other council members were notified by email, according to city clerk Janice Frank.
The next council meeting is 7:30 p.m. Aug. 29.
