Employee of the month named
Shaun Stackhouse, maintenance repairman, has been named the state Department district office Employee of the Month for August 2013.
Stackhouse is the district office repairman. According to a news release, it's not unusual to see him fixing toilets, sinks, doors, cabinets, light fixtures and an array of other items.
In addition to the interior of the district office, Shaun maintains the exterior building and grounds, which includes the lawn, landscape and parking areas. He also does maintenance work at seven construction offices.
During snow events, he works tirelessly to keep the parking lots and walkways clear of snow and ice. Following one particularly large, heavy wet snowstorm, a co-worker commented to Stackhouse's supervisor, how he was very surprised to see the parking lots and walkways cleared. The co-worker wore snow boots to work expecting to have to walk through several inches of snow and slush through the parking lot to get into the district office. "Shaun must have worked nonstop through the night to keep the parking lots cleared," as the co-worker said he could have worn only low shoes without getting his feet wet.
He is pleasant and helpful with any task, the news release said. He has a wide variety of work experience and it appears he can fix most anything. Stackhouse has a dedicated work ethic and he has gone above and beyond the call-of-duty to keep the district office repaired and safe.
Stackhouse, a 12-year PennDOT employee, lives near Hughesville with his wife Susan and their son Cole.
