Regina Elizabeth Girio, 56, of Lewisburg, was welcomed into heaven, Sunday Aug. 18, 2013, at the Williamsport Regional Medical Center.
Born Oct. 9, 1956, in Williamsport, she was a daughter to Arthur and Liberata "Libby" (Testa) Girio.
Regina was a 1974 graduate of Williamsport High School. She received her bachelor's degree in education from Lock Haven University and her master's degree in reading from Bloomsburg University. She worked at Williamsport Area School District as a learning support teacher for 30 years.
Regina was a member of the former Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church, Williamsport and attended Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, Lewisburg. She enjoyed working outside in her garden and collecting thimbles. Her greatest passion was her children and spending time with her family.
Surviving in addition to her parents, of Williamsport, are her loving husband of 23 years, Douglas Winner; three children, Kirsten, Blake, and Lucas Girio Winner; four siblings, Antoinette "Annette" Girio, of Doylestown, Eva Girio, of Montoursville, George Girio, of South Williamsport, and Joseph Girio of Montoursville; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Celebration of Life will be held 5 p.m. Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church, 18 Market St., Lewisburg, with the Rev. Dr. James C. King officiating. Visitation will be held 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
