Nick Tagliaferri, Hughesville's most successful boys basketball coach ever has resigned.
Tagliaferri told the Sun-Gazette he resigned Tuesday.
Tagliaferri took Hughesville to new heights after being hired prior to the 2002-03 season. He led the Spartans to their first four District 4 Class AA championships as well as three league crowns. Tagliaferri finished his Hughesville tenure with 184 wins while also helping Brian Gerney and Rezin Davis become the program's first all-state players.Hughesville won its first state playoff games under Tagliaferri and was the only Pennsylvania Class AA program to reach states every year from 2006-11. The Spartans reached the state's Final 4 in 2009.
