Formed in 1998, 44MAG was born through the love of true heavy metal. Fueled by their direct influences of Slayer, Pantera, Metallica, and Black Sabbath, the band pooled their collective talents and began a journey that is still alive and well 15 years later. The current lineup of 44MAG includes founding members, Jesse Roedts (drums) and Jason Miller (bass) as well as Josh Welteroth (guitar), Pat Cioffi (guitar) and Jared Mondell (vocals).
44MAG?will headline WZXR’s 22nd annual Birthday Bash, which begin at 8 p.m. Friday at The Cell Block, 154 W. Third St. Other bands that will perform include Audiobox, All Else Fails, Moxie and Rebel and The Running Joke.
Over the years, the band has played hundreds of shows, both in and out of the tri-state area, cultivating a strong and solid fan base. 44MAG has shared bills with a multitude of national acts including Green Jelly, Sepultura, and Valient Thorr. The band was voted Best Live Act during the 2012 717 Music Awards. 44MAG was also the headlining act for the Downtown Billtown Music Fest which took place in October 2012 at the Community Arts Center, 220 W. Fourth St.
Three years in the making, "Outlaw Psychosis" was written and recorded in the band's rehearsal space, thanks to a recording set up from the album's producer and engineer, Ben Rosoto. The album includes re-recordings of the three songs featured on the band's 2010 EP release which included the songs, "Heroes of the New Aeon," "Hands of Misery" and the EP's title track "50 Miles," as well as a number of previously unreleased tracks. With a sound described as "Pennsylvania backwoods party metal," the album is a melting pot of genres and influences.
Other bands on the bill for the WZXR?Birthday Bash include Audiobox, All Else Fails, Moxie and Rebel and The Running Joke. 44MAG will close out the night, starting at midnight.
After the release, the album will be available through all major digital outlets including iTunes, Amazon, Bandcamp and more. For more information on 44MAG visit them on the web through www.44magmetalband.com.
