Viola I. Gair, 77, wife of Benjamin A. Gair Jr., of 1145 Chester St., Williamsport, Pa., went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday Aug. 30, 3013, from ManorCare South, Williamsport.
Born on Feb. 4, 1936, in Cascade, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Frank and Nancy (Shires) Wettlaufer.
She was formerly employed by Wundies, Inc., of Williamsport, as a seamstress, retiring in 1998 after more than 25 years of service.
Viola and Benjamin were wed on Oct. 16, 1953, and shared over 59 years of marriage together.
She was a faithful soldier of the Salvation Army.
Viola's hobbies included bingo, playing cards and sewing. She enjoyed baseball, especially Little League when she could watch her children and grandchildren play.
She is survived by three sons, Benjamin Gair III, (Carol) of Orchard Park, N.Y., Timothy Gair, (Mary) of Cincinnati, Ohio and Frank Gair, (Joyce) of Williamsport; two daughters, Stella Clark (Ron) and Nancy Hewlett, (Jeff) both of Montoursville; two sisters, Carolyn E. Livermore, of Cogan Station and Susan Betts, of Jersey Shore; a brother, Raymond Wettlaufer, of Williamsport; 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Along with her parents, she was predeceased by a grandson, Jeremy A. Clark; a great-granddaughter, Andrea L. Hill and nine siblings.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013, at 1 p.m. at the Salvation Army, 457 N. Market St., Williamsport, with her son, Major Timothy Gair officiating, assisted by Auxiliary Captains Chas and Debbie Engel. A visitation will be held from noon until 1 p.m. Final interment will be held in Montoursville Cemetery.
