Diabetes class offered
JERSEY SHORE - Penn State Extension will hold a Dining with Diabetes class from 2 to 4 p.m. beginning on Sept. 12 at the Jersey Shore Hospital, 1020 Thompson St. The group will meet once a week for five weeks. To register call at 433-3040 or visit extension.psu.edu/health/diabetes.
DuBoistown Garden Club meeting
DUBOISTOWN - The Duboistown Garden Club will hold their monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Sept. 12 at the St. Lawrence Church Hall, 800 W. Central Ave., South Williamsport.
The program will feature guest speaker Bill Bower, a retired Pennsylvania Game Commission Wildlife Conservation Officer. Hostesses for the evening will be Irene Coolidge and Kitty Hofer. The committee includes Cindy Belles, Rita Bower, Diane Cramer, Julie Griffith, Bonita Hulin, Mary Lou Missigman, Beverly Stroble and Elizabeth Strotter.
Wyoming Civil War Roundtable to meet
DALLAS, Pa. - The Wyoming Valley Civil War Roundtable will meet at 7 p.m. Sept. 12 in the lower level of the Daddow-Isaacs American Legion, 730 Memorial Highway.
William Kashatus, a local historian, educator and writer, will present his program on "A Trial of Principle and Faith; Lincoln, the Quakers and Civil War". Kashatus spent 15 years as a history teacher in Philadelphia's Quaker schools before teaching at Penn and West Chester Universities. He currently teaches at Luzerne County Community College.
All are welcome to attend. The Roundtable is accepting new members with a donation.
