Charles W. Day, 87, of Cogan House, died Sept. 14, 2013, at the Gatehouse at Divine Providence Hospital.
He was born in Cogan House on Jan. 10, 1926, the son of Samuel and Anna Kulp Day. He worked as a logger for most of his life until retirement for Mitstifer Lumber Co.
Charles was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed working in his blueberry patch. He got enjoyment out of playing the guitar. He served in the U.S. Army in the Philippines and Japan during World War II.
He is survived by his sisters, Flora, of Jacksonville, Fla., Nellie Antazzi, of Elmira, N.Y., Bonnie Koch, of Trout Run and Velma Redden, of Cogan Station.
Charles was preceded in death by sisters, Nevada, Margarite and Della and two brothers, Leonard and Dayton.
Graveside services will be held in Summit Cemetery at White Pine at the convenience of the family. Crouse Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
