The Golden Agers Club is a new program at the Salvation Army for older adults ages 55 and older in the area.
The club meets from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday at the Salvation Army, 457 N. Market St. Attendees will enjoy music, crafts, games, devotions, speakers and a hot meal.
"In a time and age when 'seniors' seem to keep getting younger and younger, we believe this program will draw those 'golden agers' who perhaps may feel left out or 'on the fringes' of other programs and give them a place where they feel they can truly belong and in turn feel accepted for who they are," said Salvation Army officials. "Additionally we have observed that many '30-somethings' these days are on SSI, without work and without a place to go. We see this program as a compassionate way to reach out to them as well as the seniors."
Shown are attendees at the first Golden Agers Club on Sept. 10. The club is held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday at the Salvation Army, 457 N. Market St.
