WATERVILLE - A Lancaster County man faces charges following a crash involving a six-barrel train car at the Happy Acres Resort on Little Pine Creek Road that resulted in injuries to a mother and five juveniles, ranging in age from 7 to 17, according to state police.
Henry Eugene Feerrar, 58, of Gap, hooked up a six-barrel train to an ATV that he allegedly "operated in a reckless man, causing it to overturn" with six people on board about 7 p.m. on June 28, police said.
Moments before the crash, the occupants pleaded with him to slow down, but he ignored those pleas and all the barrels overturned as he made a sharp left-hand turn, police said.
Most of the juvenile suffered scrapes and bruises, but a woman identified as Aime Haines suffered "a compressed skull" injury and a broken left ankle, police said in an affidavit.
Feerrar has been charged with six counts of simple assault and one count each of recklessly endangering and endangering the welfare of children. He has been sent a summons to appear before District Judge Jerry C. Lepley.
