Pennsylvania College of Technology has established an Office of Facilities and Events to coordinate scheduling of nonacademic meeting spaces and conferences on campus and has named Lenore G. Penfield as its director.
Penfield, whose title is director of facilities utilization and college events, had served the college most recently as director of special events and The Gallery at Penn College. In addition to her new role, she becomes executive director of the gallery.
"Lenore will bring her special-event talents and gallery-management skills to the larger campus community," Penn College President Davie Jane Gilmour said. "We look forward to expanding facilities usage and conference services under her leadership."
The changes take place following the recent retirement of Linda J. Miller, hospitality sales manager in the former School of Hospitality, who had been employed by the college since 1988. The scheduling functions previously performed within the School of Hospitality (now the School of Business & Hospitality, following an Academic Affairs reconfiguration that took effect in July) are being transitioned to the Office of Facilities and Events.
The newly formed office is responsible for scheduling all nonacademic meeting rooms and facilities, as well as assisting on-campus offices and external clients with meeting-planning and conferences, including providing assistance with coordinating audiovisual and catering needs and campus signage.
As she leads the new office, Penfield retains her duties as director of college events and provides primary oversight in the planning and execution of those events.
Penfield has been employed by the college since 1983.
Before her current and most recent positions, she was executive director of the Penn College Foundation, director of tech prep and assistant professor of dental hygiene.
In 2010, the duty of interior design/decorating for college renovation and building projects was added to her director of special events position; she has worked on renovation projects including the Capitol Lounge at the Community Arts Center and the college's Le Jeune Chef Restaurant. She also owns her own decorating and design consulting company, Interior Transformations.
Penfield earned a bachelor's degree in business management from Lock Haven University, an associate degree in dental hygiene from Montgomery County Community College and a certificate from Sheffield School of Interior Design.
She serves on the Hiawatha Paddlewheel Riverboat Board of Directors and is a graduate of Leadership Lycoming.
