Qualified students in diesel- and heavy machinery-related majors at Pennsylvania College of Technology's Schneebeli Earth Science Center may benefit from yearly awards through a scholarship fund established by Highway Equipment & Supply Co.
"Highway Equipment is pleased to provide this support to a program that has been one of our key sources of technical staff for over 20 years," said William J. Flood, chairman of the company's board of directors.
The Highway Equipment & Supply Co. Scholarship will provide a renewable, annual $2,000 award with a preference to a student who has a home residence in central or northeastern Pennsylvania; is enrolled full- or part-time in the two-year diesel technology, two-year heavy construction equipment technology (technician or operator emphasis) or diesel technician certificate major at Penn College; and is eligible for financial aid.
For more than 50 years, Highway Equipment & Supply Co. has been selling and servicing construction equipment for the contracting, mining, municipal, utility, agricultural and manufacturing sectors of the central Pennsylvania market.
The company has branch locations in Harrisburg, Hazleton, Brownstown and Lock Haven.
"The Penn College Foundation is extremely grateful for the generosity of the Highway Equipment & Supply Co.," said Robb Dietrich, foundation executive director. "An investment like this by a respected company is yet another vote of confidence in the quality of education Penn College students are receiving."
