Edith Louise Kershner, 91, of Jersey Mills, passed away Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013, at the Williamsport Regional Medical Center.
She was born in Jersey Mills, July 14, 1922, a daughter of Fred and Jenny Johnson Woodhouse.
Edith was married on Aug. 9, 1941, to William E. Kershner who passed away Jan. 4, 2005.
She was a homemaker her entire life and was a member of the Jersey Mills Baptist Church.
Edith enjoyed gardening, raising flowers, mowing grass with push mower and loved watching birds.
Her survivors include five children, Dennis (Waynna) Kershner, of North East, Pa., Denver Kershner, of Wisconsin, Scott (Vicky) Kershner, of Avis, Russell, (MaryAnn) of Coulee, Wash., Rebecca (Keith) Helm, of Williamsport and her daughter-in-law, Margaret Kershner, of Jersey Mills; 17 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Harold Woodhouse, of North East, Pa., and a sister, Gloria Johnson, of Jersey Shore.
She was predeceased by her son Mervin Kershner in 2007.
In lieu of flowers, family suggests memorial contributions can be made to the Jersey Mills Baptist Church, Route 414 Highway, Jersey Mills, PA 17739 or the Salvation Army, 457 Market St., Williamsport, PA 17701.
Edith's Life Celebration will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013, at the Rearick-Carpenter Funeral Home, Ltd., "A Life Celebration Home," 1002 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore, with her Pastor Donald R. Aber officiating. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home from noon until 2 p.m. Interment will follow in Whispering Pines Cemetery in Jersey Mills.
