Paramedics quickly move a litter carrying a gunshot victim to a waiting ambulance following a shooting late Monday afternoon that occurred in the 500 block of Lycoming Street, on the property of the Timberland Estates apartment complex.
2- With their guns drawn, city police storm an apartment looking for a possible suspect or additional victims minutes after a shooting on Lycoming Street.
3-Police comb the front lawn of Building 9 at the Timberland Estates looking for any ballistics evidence. One resident of the street reported hearing “one pop” when the shooting occurred.
The victim, whose age and identity were not released, fell to the ground after neighbors told him to stop walking.
City police and paramedics rushed to the scene just after 5 p.m.
Investigators still were trying to determine if the victim was shot in one of the building's apartments or if he was wounded out front. "We haven't yet nailed that down," one officer said.
As paramedics tended to his injuries, police officers quickly cordoned off the front lawn of the apartment building with crime tape.
It is at least the 12th shooting in the city this year.
The victim was conscious and alert as he was placed into the back of an ambulance that took him to the Williamsport Regional Medical Center.
Looking for a possible suspect or any additional gunshot victims, several officers, with their guns drawn, stormed one of the apartments in the building, but no one was found inside.
Police took several photos of the crime scene.
"I heard one pop," a neighbor said in describing the sound of the gunfire.
Moments after the shot was fired, a black male, wearing a white T-shirt and believed to be carrying a backpack, was seen running west on Lycoming Street, a neighbor said.
A neighbor said the victim does not live in the building, "but he sometimes stays there. He's in and out."
Officers lined up and spent several minutes combing the lawn, looking for any ballistics evidence. Police declined to comment on what they found.
Police obtained a search warrant to look for evidence in the apartment they stormed.
The same apartment was the scene of a shooting that occurred about 12:30 a.m. on June 25, when a gunman outside fired several shots at the building.
No one was injured when one of the shots went through a second-floor window, police said. The apartment was occupied at the time, but police did not say how many people were in the unit at the time. No arrest has been made in this case.
