TROUT RUN - A chicken barbecue will be held starting at 3:30 p.m. at the Trout Run United Methodist Church, off of Route 14. Dinners will be served until the chicken is gone. Pastoral care training
The Susquehanna Health Pastoral Care Department will hold a training program for volunteers who would like to serve as volunteer chaplain assistants. The two-week training will be held from 9 a.m.-noon Sept. 24 and Oct. 1. Both classes will begin in the Susquehanna Tower Chapel at Williamsport Regional Medical Center, 700 High St. At the completion of the training, assistants will be asked to shadow with our staff chaplains. PENNSDALE - Pennsdale Trinity United Methodist Church, 658 Village Road, will hold an all-you-can-eat buffet catered by Springman's Country Store of Pennsdale from 4-7 p.m. featuring carved bone-in ham and oven-roasted pulled pork. LYRA in concert
Holy Cross Orthodox Church, 1725 Holy Cross Lane off Northway Road in Loyalsock Township, will host LYRA, a vocal ensemble from St. Petersburg, Russia, at 7 p.m. The dynamic a cappella music of the talented quartet, trained at the prestigious Saint Petersburg Conservatory, will feature works from the Russian Orthodox liturgical tradition to be sung in the church sanctuary and a selection of Russian Folk Songs to be sung in the Orthodox Fellowship Center, adjacent to the church. 2-day rummage sale
The Presbyterian Women of the First Presbyterian Church, 102 E. Third St., will hold a rummage sale from 7:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday and 8 a.m.-noon Saturday. Proceeds will benefit missions projects.
United Churches golf tournament
The United Churches of Lycoming County third annual scramble golf tournament will be held at White Deer's Challenge Course. Registration and refreshments begin at 8:15 a.m. with a shotgun start at 9. Church closing to be marked
AVIS - After 111 years of sharing the good news of Jesus Christ the members of Trinity Lutheran Church, 103 W. Highland St., will gather at 8:30 a.m. for their last worship service. The congregation voted to merge Trinity Lutheran into St. John Lutheran. Members and former members are invited to join in worship and celebrate all the saints who carried out the ministries of the congregation, which included outreach to the community. Pastor Chris Milarch, former pastor, and Pastor Kerry Aucker, interim pastor, will lead worship and the choir will offer special music.
